Pete Shainin
Pete ShaininChairman and CEO
Pete has spent over 40 years providing design, testing and solutions support to engineering and manufacturing organizations across a range of industries, worldwide. As CEO of the company, Pete provides leadership and works closely with the executive team to set strategic direction for Shainin. He earned a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and is a licensed professional engineer.
Craig Hysong
Craig HysongPresident
Craig has held a wide range of senior positions within the automotive industry. His management experience includes manufacturing engineering, new product launch, quality, reliability, and cost improvement. In 1998, he joined Shainin and is currently President of the company. Craig is responsible for consulting services and business development in the Americas. Prior to joining Shainin, he worked at General Motors and ITT Automotive. Craig earned a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from the Pennsylvania State University and a master of science in manufacturing systems engineering from Lehigh, which he attended as a General Motors Fellow. He is a licensed professional engineer and an American Society for Quality (ASQ) certified Quality Engineer, Reliability Engineer, Quality Auditor, and Quality Manager.
Phillip A. Thompson
Phillip A. ThompsonPresident
Phil has over 25 years of industrial experience and held senior management positions at Federal-Mogul, AlliedSignal, ITT Automotive, and Webasto. He has broad international experience as a managing director and has been President at Shainin Group since January 2016. Phil holds a Master’s degree and is fluent in 4 languages including German, French and Spanish.
John Abrahamian
John AbrahamianExecutive Vice President
John has global responsibility for the timely and effective delivery of Shainin problem solving and resilient design services. Since joining Shainin in 1998, he has established systems to ensure a consistent approach while still providing the customization required for each client”s unique situation. His experience in a wide range of industries, including aerospace, automotive, medical devices, and consumer products positions him to guide cross functional teams through manufacturing and engineering challenges. Prior to joining Shainin, John worked for Pratt & Whitney, a United Technologies company as a design and development engineer of jet engines and space propulsion systems. He also served as a manager responsible for implementing both lean manufacturing and value engineering. He holds a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from the University of Connecticut and a master of business administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Richard D. Shainin
Richard D. ShaininExecutive Vice President
Richard is an author and lecturer. He wrote the “Multi-Vari Charts” chapter for the Encyclopedia of Statistics in Quality and Reliability (Wiley 2008). He has also published papers in Quality Engineering and Six Sigma Forum. He has been a frequent speaker at quality conferences including the ASQ World Conference. Dick was named the 2014 Quality Leader of the Year by the ASQ Automotive Division. Prior to joining Shainin in 1991, Dick worked at AT&T where he led high-performance teams in engineering, operations, marketing and sales. He currently guides class development and delivery, and he continues to work with client leadership to develop and implement Shainin programs. Dick has a bachelor of engineering degree from Stevens Institute of Technology (Hoboken, NJ), and an MBA from American University (Washington, D.C.). He is a graduate of the AT&T Management Development Program.
Constantin Berg
Constantin BergVice President Operations Europe & Asia
Constantin is experienced in Technical Problem Solving, Resilient Supply Chain and Project Management. He joined Shainin in 2011 as a Consultant after having gained extensive experience in the automotive and natural gas industries. Constantin has a dual degree in technology and business management from the Technical University of Munich, Germany. He speaks fluent Spanish, English and German.

Technical Director

Shainin technical directors guide project delivery teams to ensure problem solving engagements are completed successfully. They review project planning and execution to maintain technical standards. Most importantly, they keep Shainin clients apprised of project progress and roadblocks.

Technical directors are responsible for developing the engineers on their team to maintain Shainin’s ability to solve our clients most complex technical problems by uncovering the hidden causes keeping systems from performing their best.

Milind Vale
Milind ValeTechnical Director, Problem Solving Services
Milind has been solving tough manufacturing and quality problems for more than 25 years. Prior to joining Shainin, Milind had extensive consulting and manufacturing experience within the automotive industry working for OEMs and suppliers. Milind holds a master of science in manufacturing technology from Eastern Michigan University and a master of science in engineering management from Rensselaer Polytechnic. In addition, he is an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, Reliability Engineer, Quality Manager, and Quality Auditor.
Esther Fondermann
Esther FondermannTechnical Manager
Esther has extensive experience in Problem Solving, Resilient Design and Development and Training Services in a wide range of diverse industries. She has been actively applying Shainin Red X Problem Solving and Prevention Strategies since 2006. In 2012, Esther joined Shainin as a Senior Consultant and in 2015 was promoted to the Technical Manager of Europe. Prior to joining Shainin, Esther studied mechanical engineering at the University of Bochum in Germany. She also worked for a vehicle manufacturer in different positions such as: Quality Engineer in engine production, Master Black Belt in Vehicle Development, Manager of the Program Management Department and she was an Executive Assistant to the Vice President. Esther has extensive manufacturing, engineering, quality management and new product launch experience within the automotive and aerospace industries.
Harry Flotemersch
Harry FlotemerschTechnical Director, Training Services
Harry has worked in Tier 2 for Ford, Tier 1 at Delphi Delco Electronics / GMC and OEM at DaimlerChrysler and BAE ground systems over his 37+ year career. He has experience as a controls, tooling, manufacturing, and quality engineer. Upon experiencing his first exposure to Dorian Shainin’s Red X statistical course in the mid 1990’s he decided this was something he was going to dig into! He initiated the Red X program at Delco Electronics and became their first Red X Master. He went on to learn additional structured problem solving and innovation methodologies and has enjoyed applying these capabilities in across a broad range of industries. He has consulted in North America, France and Germany for Shainin solving problems in manufacturing and field warranty as well as mentoring hundreds of others to learn the skill set. He is leading the delivery of Resilient Design and Development Engineering training services. Harry earned a bachelor of science in Electrical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and a Master of Science in Manufacturing Management from Kettering University. He enjoys windsurfing, mountain biking and cross country skiing.
